About Jared Sales
Jared began his career performing stand-up comedy. It wasn’t long before Jared & his work were broadcast around the world on NBC, CBS, ABC, The Today Show, CTV, CHUM, Fox UK, CW Network & XM/Sirius Satellite Radio.
Jared has been a leading force on the fledgling Toronto comedy scene having been a co-founder of highly acclaimed live shows such as Righteous Wednesdays, Laugh Sabbath & Not Safe for Work (Now Magazine’s #3 comedy show of 2007). Jared also collaborates monthly with comedian Sean Cullen on videos for The Sean Schau. Jared also joined Sean in Vancouver at the 2010 Winter Olympics producing multimedia content for The Sean Schau. Sean and Jared colloborated again in 2017 on Sean's House for the CBC. In 2006, Jared joined the Toronto based sketch troupe The Sketchersons & in '07 the group won a Canadian Comedy Award.
Jared's films placed 1st in the Funniest Video in Canada contest, sponsored by Will Ferrell’s Funny or Die. That film, "Everydave Life" was screened in competition at the 08' Just For Laugh’s Film Festival. Everydave Life was also nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award in the category of "Best Web Video".
In 2008, Jared created the production house Mind Control Media.
In 2012, Jared co-created, directed & produced the 15 episode series, Guidance. The series was a success & was renewed for 2nd season airing Summer 2013 on BiteTV. Guidance was also nominated for 3 CCA's including Best Web Series and Best Director/TV (Jared Sales).
In 2013, Jared joined Insight Productions as Producer for a new show called, "America, EH!".
Jared has also directed highly popular & acclaimed music videos for such artists as Maylee Todd, The Good Lovelies, Woodhands, Laura Barrett, The Gravity Wave, The Bicycles & more. EMI Canada approached Jared in 2010 to write & direct a viral video campaign for the release of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream album.
Jared has also taught both film production and viral media as a part of the Humber School of Comedy and Humber TV Writing & Producing Program. He has also been a featured speaker on the subject at Ryerson University.
Jared also happened to catch someone on video jumping into the Tiger pit at the Toronto Zoo to retrieve a hat. That video has more than 4 million YouTube views to date and was featured on ABC News, NBC News, CBS News, Inside Edition, Fox News, CNN, CBC Newsworld, CTV News, BBC Today and hundreds of more news outlets all over the world. At it's peak popularity the video was being mentioned in more than 1,000 tweets a minute on Twitter.
After handling most of the post production duties on the video content he has created over the years, Jared has also developed a strong skillset that features editing, motion graphic design, visual effects, and 3D animation.

What is MFTKR?
MFTKR is an acronym for My Friend The Killer Robot. Jared originally began performing music in 1996 under the name MFTKR. Throughout the years, the moniker MFTKR has morphed into the experimental visual works of Jared Sales.
